where do I start?

First, let's get a Bible in your hands. You can grab one at church on Sunday or talk to one of our Pastors. You can also download a free Bible app or get a more detailed Study Bible.

The goal is progress, not perfection

You can't be an expert on something right away, and that's not the goal in reading and studying the Bible. You're on a journey that will last for the rest of your life. Ultimately, our aim is to be with Jesus as we read Scripture, not to master a text or gain some new knowledge. It's to spend time with Him, to hear and learn from Him, and to be changed by Him. Start with this approach and lower the pressure you may feel to have it all figured out.

what do I read?

To get started, we recommend picking one of the 4 Gospels first (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). John is usually as a good starting point. Mark is the shortest, Luke gives a ton of detail, and Matthew writes from a Jewish background/context. Matthew, Mark, and Luke are all very similar with overlapping stories, but all of the Gospels give unique perspectives on the life and teachings of Jesus.

If you'd like to have a guide for what to read, there are tons of reading plans in the Bible app. You can set a daily reminder to read and it'll take you through some Scripture every day. We've got a few here & you can browse or search through hundreds more in the Bible app.
